Lisk allows creating a sidechain for your needs.

Lisk provides tools to create a sidechain. Sidechain is a blockchain that can interact with Lisk mainchain. Sidechain works independently of the mainchain. It can power multiple dapps — distributed applications.

Lisk Commander is a command-line tool to interact with Lisk. It can be used to create a wallet, send a transaction, or get information about blockchain state.

Lisk provides Lisk Elements. It is a rich set of algorithms to develop a functionality, popular within blockchain, like shared cryptography, transaction signing, and network constants.

Lisk provides an API, which is a set of methods to integrate an application into sidechain infrastructure. Lisk API helps to view and send transactions, sync with the blockchain, and work with dapps.

To secure mainchain, users run full nodes. Lisk Core provides a set of distributions to run a node.

Lisk Hub is a web application that provides wallet, delegate voting, and network explorer. In future, it will also have a decentralized exchange, sidechain registration, and launching of custom ICO.

Lisk uses DPoS to generate blocks. Lisk holders select a delegate to make a block. Each round, delegates who receive most votes are eligible to make blocks. Every 10 seconds one of the delegates make a block. When the round is complete, new delegates are chosen.

To protect the network from forks, Lisk employs Broadhash consensus. It ensures that the network agrees on when to produce next block. Broadhash consensus calculated as the aggregated hash of 5 previous blocks. This means that peers with the same block height will have the same broadhash.
